OBJECTIVES
Refine your understanding of the design process of logo creation. Further explore wordmarks and icon-based marks. Develop further understand the relationship between conceptual identity and visual identity and the application of identity through a visual system.
Details:
What is a logo? A logo is a mark which embodies a successful minimal/maximal relationship – how a minimum amount of visual information can communicate the maximum amount of conceptual information. A logo has to communicate the subtleties of a company or organization’s mission, motivation, and goals to an often diverse and broad audience. For this project you will be designing a new logo for an organization on campus. REACT -a group on campus dedicated to sharing chemistry education with grade school children.
Once the identity has been established, you will be responsible for applying that identity to a t-shirt, van, and brochure. Each item in an identity system must speak the same visual language and must communicate coherently together. However, that does not merely mean the logo should be slapped on a blank white piece of paper and declared done. Each element in an identity system must be designed with the same care and creative processes that lead to the design of the logo.
